We are finishing up Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Lizardfolk and it is about time that we share what is inside with you. Before I go any further, I state something upfront: we deviated from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Advanced Race Guide on this one. To the annoyance of some of the writers on the Book of Heroic Races project, I have insisted that we stick with the racial abilities as presented in the ARG. I choose to break with that for Lizardfolk in two places: Hold Breath and Languages.
Every incarnation of Lizardfolk since the start of 3.0 has had the hold breath ability except for the ARG. They are a swamp-dwelling race with a swim speed. It seemed only natural that they either have some way to breath under water some way to hold their breath much longer than a person. We decided to bring back hold breath as a part of the race’s history and tradition.
The second area we changes is languages. According to the ARG, lizardfolk are a xenophobic race, meaning they only get their base language (Draconic) for free and up to four other languages with a high Int score. Well, a player race that cannot, by default, speak the same language as the rest of the adventuring party really is not going to work out very easily. So we decided to give it Common for free. The Advanced Race Guide does not specify which languages it should have so we had to choose. The 3.5 Monster Manual gives the race Aquan, Goblin, Gnoll, and Orc. Keeping Aquan was obvious, but the other three races do not share the same environment according to the Pathfinder rules. So we opted for a few languages that we felt were more appropriate: Dwarven, Grippli and Sylvan.
So here is our take on Lizardfolk. We hope you enjoy them. And stop back all week for other previews of the Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Lizardfolk.
Lizardfolk Racial Traits
Lizardfolk have the following racial traits.
+2 Strength, +2 Constitution: Lizardfolk are strong and hardy due to life in harsh, adverse habitats.
Humanoid: Lizardfolk are humanoids with the reptilian subtype.
Medium: Lizardfolk are Medium creatures and receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Normal Speed: Lizardfolk have a base land speed of 30 feet. They also have a swim speed of 15 feet, allowing them to move in water without making Swim checks and granting them a +8 racial bonus on Swim checks.
Hold Breath: A lizardfolk can hold its breath for a number of rounds equal to four times its Constitution score before it risks drowning.
Natural Armor: Lizardfolk have tough scaly skin, granting them a +2 natural armor bonus.
Natural Attacks: Lizardfolk have sharp teeth and hard nails, granting them two claw attacks (1d4 points of damage each) and a bite attack (1d3 points of damage).
Languages: Lizardfolk begin play speaking Common and Draconic. Lizardfolk with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Aquan, Dwarven, Grippli, and Sylvan.

do lizardfolk with the Hulk racial trait get larger natural attacks?
No, the lizardfolk hulk racial trait only affects CMB/CMD and allows the lizardfok to use weapons of a larger size without penalty. Her claws are still the same size and sharpness.
