The Major Pathfinder Announcement

As we have been mentioning all week, we have a major announcement that we are making today. I am sure you are eagerly wondering what this surprise is.

So before I make that announcement, I would like welcome E. Steev Ramsdell into the Jon Brazer Enterprises’ family. He will be in charge of creating Hero Lab files for all Jon Brazer Enterprises’ products, insuring that JBE’s products integrate as seamlessly as possible into your game. The first project he has nearly completed is the Feats, Spells, Archetypes Prestige Classes and Magic Items from the Book of the River Nations: Complete Player’s Reference for Kingdom Building. Please help us give Steev a warm welcome into RPG programming.

The image of our Free RPG Day adventure Shadowsfall: Temple of Orcus on the right is slightly different than the image we have been displaying for the past few months. Tomorrow afternoon, with the help of the awesome crew at Lone Wolf, we will be sending out the Hero Lab file for this adventure as a regular update for your Hero Lab program. So this Saturday for Free RPG Day, if you are playing in or GMing Shadowsfall: Temple of Orcus while using Hero Lab, you will have all the monsters, NPCs, PCs and magic items you need to run this adventure. The umbral kobold and wanderer races as well as other pieces of Shadowsfall that are previewed in this adventure are included as well. Click here to manually download the Hero Lab file (Link Fixed).

Burrow (Ex) Cove Granitefist can burrow through sand, dirt, clay, gravel, or similar materials, but not solid stone. He leaves no hole behind nor is his passage marked on the surface.
Treacherous Earth (Su) Once per day, Cover Granitefist can can transform a 10-foot-radius patch of earth, unworked stone or sand into difficult terrain. This area is centered on on an area he touches. This last for 7 minutes and then returns to normal.

Having worked with the dwarves most of his life, Cove Granitefist knows the mountains near the River Nations well. He has helped out with more than one mining operation, passing through the looser earth, helping the dwarves to locate veins of precious materials. He also stood by their side, fighting the foul creatures that live deep beneath the surface.

When the dwarves disappeared, he was arranging for goods to be sold to a neighboring nation. He returned to find plates of uneaten food, buckets and carts full of dirt as if dropped by their owners and toys ready to be played with but without owners. Instead of investigating by himself, he decided to hire others to investigate. When he returned, the entrance had been sealed off, preventing him from and his fellow adventurers from discovering the truth. Also, he and his companions were not powerful enough to overcome the new wards guarding the place.

Cove considers himself constantly training, looking to gain enough power to get past the wards and allow himself entrance. He wants to know what happened in that cave and hungers for a way to bring them back from whereever they may be.

Pathfinder: Seedling Racial Traits

Written by Marie Small, Image by Luis Antonio Salas Lastra
Last week I started posting material from upcoming products that are almost complete but are on hold while I’m finishing up Shadowsfall: Shadow Plane Player’s Companion. This week I’m posting something written by Marie Small, a very talented writer who advanced far in Paizo’s RPG Superstar Competition. We’re showing you the Seedling racial abilities. The Seedlings are a humanoid race of tree people that demonstrate that the forest is far from defenseless. These forest defenders will allow you to see life away from civilization in a whole new light.

Seedling Racial Traits

+2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom, -2 Dexterity: Seedlings are shrewd and hardy but they are physically less flexible than humans due to their bark-like skin.

Medium: Seedings are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.

Normal Speed: Seedlings have a base speed of 30 feet.

Low-Light Vision Seedlings make their home in the twilight beneath the thick, intertwined canopy of primordial forests. This grants them the ability to see in low light conditions far better than humans.

+1 Natural Armor Bonus Their plant-like nature has gifted seedlings with a fibrous, stiff skin much like bark. This grants them some natural protection from attack.

Photosynthesis: While seedlings need to eat or breathe, their leaves and nettles allow them to make their own food and oxygen allowing them to go longer without sustenance. They receive a +2 racial bonus to Constitution checks to resist suffocation, drowning, and starvation. The consequences of failing these checks remain unchanged.

Planting: As a standard action, seedlings can extend their feet into the earth below them, merging with their plant-like nature and rooting themselves to a single point. This spell-like ability functions similar to polymorph spells with the following changes: the seedling cannot use this ability on anyone except herself, and she can only assume the shape of a tree sapling resembling her own appearance. For example, an oak seedling can assume the shape of an oak sapling but not a pine or maple sapling. A seedling may maintain a planting for up to 24 hours. While in this form, the seedling gains tremorsense 30 feet.

Plant-Resistance: Seedlings receive a +2 bonus to saving throws versus mind-affecting effects and paralysis.

Plantkin: As a spell-like ability, seedlings can use speak with plants once per day (caster level is equal to class levels).

Languages: Seedlings begin play speaking Common, Seedling and Sylvan. Those with high intelligence can choose the following as bonus languages – Draconic, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, and Orc.
