What Kind of Monster Artwork Do You Prefer?

Earlier this week, we showed off a monster that a druid or wizard can summon with the conjure minor elemental spell. I really like that monster, but there’s something I have been wondering about with the artwork: the style. It is a beautiful color image. The problem is is that I don’t have a massive library of color images. I have a much larger library of black and white image. So as I continue to work on monster books for Fifth Edition, 13th Age, Pathfinder 2e (possibly), and other systems, I want to stay consistent as much as possible throughout the entire project. So that leads me to ask, what do you prefer?

Adding a parchment background to a black and white image is quite easy and rather fun. Not only that, it gives the image a distinctive feeling of being from an ancient tome that time forgot, in keeping with the fantasy theme. However, I do love looking at the color images in monster books. So I am asking you to help me make up my mind.

Tell me what kind of image would you like to see in a monster book from us. Vote in the poll below and as always, elaborate in the comments below.

Pathfinder: Art of the Cats of Doom

For today’s preview of the Deadly Delves: 9 Lives for Petane, we want to show you some more of the artwork inside of this adventure. We pride ourselves on having some exceptional artwork by amazing artists. The cover image was created by Luis Antonio Salas Lastra and is of a particularly nasty leukodaemon—a plague daemon—using its breath of flies ability on F’haisa, our signature lizardfolk magus, while Lindiwe our signature elan psychic warrior, charges in for an attack. I love that one. Look for it soon as wallpaper you can download for your computer.

Up next we have a fun interior drawing by Brian Brinlee of a half-fiend aboleth having snagged Khol Saka, our signature catfolk slayer while F’haisa rushes in to save her ally.

Last up we have some more images by Brian Brinlee. A total of two catfolk, but the question is, are there more in the adventure? Hmmm? Also, we have two different psionic classes shown. Deadly… Lastly we have one Hell of a demon. (Well, I guess technically, that would be one Abyss of a demon, but that doesn’t flow as nicely.) All of this and more are inside Deadly Delves: 9 Lives for Petane.

Deadly Delves: 9 Lives for Petane is an adventure for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and is designed for a group of four-to-five 12th-level characters and will be released tomorrow. You can download this adventures at the JBE Shop. You can also find them at DriveThruRPG/RPGNow, Paizo, and the Open Gaming Store.

Pathfinder: Monsters of the Volcano

As we have said before, we at Jon Brazer Enterprises are putting our efforts into adventures these days. One we have coming out this month for Pathfinder is called Deadly Delves: The Chaosfire Incursion. This takes a group of 11th level characters into the heart of a volcano from another plane. Your characters will be battling all kinds of new and classic monsters throughout your descent into the a fiery hell.

Today we just thought we would show off some of the new artwork by Brian Brinlee featured in this adventure as well as the cover image by Beatrice Pelagatti. We hope you are as excited for this adventure as we are.

Download Deadly Delves: The Chaosfire Incursion today at DriveThruRPG/RPGNow, the OpenGamingStore, and Paizo.

Traveller: Rosy Artwork

Coming later this summer is The Rose of Death, our first adventure in the Prelude to War adventure path. Earlier this week, we got in some of the artwork for this adventure and I wanted to show it off to you.

Each of these four characters play an important part in the adventure. Exactly what that part is, you will have to wait and find out. *evil grin*

This adventure is a good introduction of what life is like beyond the safety of the Imperium. The characters get to see first hand how things can quickly go from a normal average day to a terrible day when there is no massive over-government keeping major criminals in check and and the law enforcement (mostly) honest.

Beyond the adventure itself, we give you an indepth look into the planet Cornath. This is really helpful when the characters want to go sightseeing on a different continent. Alternatively, if you want to have your character originally from here, this will help you see what life you can expect on this superearth, letting you talk in game like you really are from the planet.

Pathfinder: Lizards-a-Plenty

Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Lizardfolk (PFRPG)

I almost titled this one “Tastes Like Chicken.” I just thought I would share that.

With Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Lizardfolk released this week, we’ve been sharing with you a number of previews from this favorite race. We shared the racial traits, the tribal defender archetype, and several of the racial feats.

Today being the end of the week, I thought I would share with you artwork within. Mind you, this is in addition to our signature lizardfolk magus that graces the cover.

Pathfinder: Samsaran Art

Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Samsarans (PFRPG)

I know I am a bit late in finishing the previews for Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Samsarans, but I wanted to make sure that these were posted. The artwork within Advanced Samsarans is our most inclusive artwork yet. With transgender people so rarely represented in artwork, we made sure to include a transman and transwoman in our artwork. Also we noticed a distinct lack of heroic females that are overweight so we thought we would take the opportunity to have an incredibly intelligent woman as a hero as well. And for those that love beefcake men, we have a muscular man for eye candy.

We hope you enjoy these images as much as we do.

Pathfinder: Elans in Art

Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Elans (PFRPG)

Today being Friday, we wanted to just show off the art inside Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Elans. This week, you’ve seen elan racial traits, the Ratha priest slayer archetype, three rogue talents, and a few psionic powers. We wanted to end the week with a bit of fun.

You’ve already seen Lindiwe, our signature psychic warrior that graces our cover. She is a master of puzzles and lore, and more than adept at splitting skulls with your strong axe. She is not the only elan presented in this book. Here are four more images of elans you will find in this book.

Pathfinder: Merfolk Artwork

Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Merfolk (PFRPG)

Now that PaizoCon is over, its time for us to get back to work. Book of Heroic Races: Advanced Merfolk is next up on our list. Like I said before, it was suppose to come out this month, but PaizoCon prep pushed it back until June. But we are hard at work on it. In the meantime, check out the awesome artwork by Brian Brinlee that arrived earlier this month for it.

We’ve got images for a merfolk time thief, sorcerer, cleric, and barbarian, so reverse alphabetical order. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy bringing them to you.
